Click FCapture in your menu bar. Choose free selection, portrait or landscape.
Choose Save or Copy, then drag your selection. The border and dimensions help you frame it.
Release to capture. Save a PNG where you want, or paste your copied image with ⌘V.
Press Esc to cancel. Hold Control when releasing to copy straight to the clipboard.
A little less effort
Optionally launch FCapture at login. Capture on any connected display, with each selection staying on the screen where you started.
